Proud
Luke went on his last carpool field trip of preschool last week to the Lindsey Wildlife Museum and I was one of the parent drivers. He listened so well and raised his hand to answer questions. What does a snake have covering its body? Scales! So proud of him for raising his hand and speaking up and for being interested in learning.
Halina decided to participate in her movement class's spring performance, along with other dancers and gymnasts at her dance program. She blew us away with her poise and courage, doing assisted back walkovers and flips on the long hanging silks, interpretive dance moves and hula hooping up on stage. So proud of her.

Beads
Halina and I made bracelets together at blue door beads on Piedmont Ave the other night. We also shopped at the used bookstore and ate burritos at the street-facing wndow counter at Baja. The pale pink buildings near the old library were a little rosier than usual from the sunset and the air was moist and coastal, with a touch of warmth beneath the chill. There wandered past our perch, on the other side of the glass. an endless parade of interesting people to watch, including a teenaged couple dressed for prom who settled on a bench across the street, beautiful and awkward. Time alone with Halina is easy and gentle and I treasure it. And the way she can see each thing, like each bead, with openness, looking outward with warm eyes from the special, comforting place of being connected. Since that night out, she's been sick for a few days -- low fever, lying on couches and beds, mostly comfortable, just sleepy and listless. We've been spending all day together. It's more sweet time, though I'm sorry that she's been sick. But It's nice to have her near, to have her home, to be quiet together.

Reading with Grandma
Belly laughs listening to Grandma read aloud Luke's action/adventure chapter book "The Nunchucks" (a book he wrote himself) on her recent visit.

Skied
(Pronounced like sky with a d at the end.)
Luke (in March): What's it called when you really like something and then you get kind of like bored of it?
Me: Do you mean, is there a special word for that? We should make one up. What do you think it should be?
Luke: Hmmm, I think... skied.
Me: Okay.
Luke: Well, I think I'm skied of The Octonauts (previous favorite video).
# #
Luke (in April): I'm skied of green (previous favorite color).
It took me a good 30 seconds to figure out what he was talking about. When it came to me, I appreciated his handy phrase and good memory.
Here he is having his last share day ever at MCPC today. I remember his first share--the fun hat. There's a video of it in here.
