We returned to the farm in Elizabeth, Illinois near historic Galina where Luke went to camp for a week last summer.
But this time for a weekend family farm stay.
We were fed delicious meals, enjoyed dramatic sunsets and various summer storms with far off, silent lightening at night (‘heat lightening,’ Papa thinks it’s called) and exponentially more fireflies than we see at home. Goats, bunnies, chickens, and other fun animals. Wooden swings on the mulberry trees. A big grassy hill for rolling and cartwheels. A pond for fishing. A big barn stuffed with newly bailed hay to crawl through. A long walking path through a tunnel of trees. And we all got to enjoy the magical tree house built by kids in summers past and dappled with turquoise and pastel paint. Did we sleep well at night? Um, no. But some of us napped well. And we all did lots of reading and relaxing.
