Luke James' Fun Hat

Ridiculously cute video clip from Luke's first share day at MCPC in October.

Most of what Luke knows he learned from me, Chris and Halina. But a close fourth is Curious George. Luke often references science-y and practical knowledge things he's been introduced to not from the three of us but from that show, like how pumps and wells work, what a fulcrum does, farm life, apple picking, squirrel behavior, riding the subway, and on and on. (I'm speaking of the c. 2006 series narrated by William H. Macy. We stream it on Netflix and it's been the go-to video for Halina and Luke for about 1.5 years. We all love it.) He'd just watched the episode where George builds a fun hat that dispenses food and bubbles and other marvelous things. Luke then directed me to make this hat and write "Luke James' Fun Hat" on the side, plus "Screeeeech!" (Not sure where he got that last part.) He ate crackers out of it that night and took it to MCPC for share the next day. It looks old and worn out because the construction paper I used was old and worn out.

I had to include the part where he goes to share the hat with his little friends and that sweetest girl on earth accidentally rips it a bit. Then he has to examine it for a while. Then he moves on.

It's such a small moment in time when we are this adorable and authentic.

(Plus how awesome is his teacher?)
