Kicking off summer

We just finished our first week of summer, with a kick-off outing to Grandma & Grandpa's house (and pool) last Saturday. At first Halina didn't quite remember how to swim. At the end of the day she was doing this.

So it is with summer. So weird to have school ending, routines shifting. A week into it and my memory of that stuff is a little fuzzy.

I'm having my annual experience of realizing how short summer really is, which happens soon after it starts. That first week, before I start vaguely doing the math, is very sweet--all discovery and expectation, just plopping right down into the green of early summer.
