Treasures

Tonight I took the kids to the park where I do my moms' exercise class because Chris had gone out and I didn't want to pay for a sitter. It was surprisingly fun having them there. Halina jumped rope almost the whole time, watching. Either that or she did handstands in the grass. (And later at home she practiced all the moves she saw us doing, flushed with joy and effort, recalling all the details.) Luke was so sweet, just hangin out with his sis, playing with a long tangle of cloth cord he'd brought, pretending it was a lasso, Spiderman's web, or a kite. They didn't bug me at all. It was a cool, breezy night with big stormy clouds taking shape and a peek of milky blue bay down the mountain. Not cold. I felt so lucky to be in the class (especially after a hiatus), to run and move, and so grateful to have my kids there, being part of it. They inspired me to try my best.

They collected these treasures in the park and presented them to me after class.
